Clearly Visible House Numbers

Street numbers should be easily visible from the street.  Spotting your house numbers from the roadway is important in decreasing emergency response time.  You can do this by using numbers that are made of reflective materials, are at least 6 inches high and are placed directly under a light near the front door, garage and back door.

It is also important to note that house numbers should be placed on back alley fences and gates as well as being painted on the roof. Roof numbers should be at least 4 feet high and painted in a color that contrasts to the roof.  Using a non-reflective paint for this application is recommended.
